This years sees the launch of the inagural Clonmel Duathlon, which will take place on Sunday March 20th.
The race route will challenge athletes to a scenic 4km run followed by a 22km bike and then a final a 4km run.
NewToTri.com spoke to organiser Declan Byrne and asked who the race is aimed at: “The Clonmel Duathlon course has been designed for both experienced athletes and also those who are venturing into the world of Duathlon and Triathlon for the very first time. Participants will have the opportunity to test themselves at their own level, in a fun and supportive atmosphere!”
It’s hoped that up to 150 athletes will take part in the Clonmel Duathlon, with many of those expected to be first timers in this type of event. The run course is a flat loop which will pass through a park, before following the banks of the River Suir. The bike course is made up of two loops and full details (including maps) are available on the race website.
For those who won’t be racing there’ll be face painting and a bouncing castle, so that children and supporters will have plenty to keep them occupied when they’re not cheering for competitors!
NewToTri.com wishes both the organiser and participants in the Clonmel Duathlon, a great day and successful race!
