The Wicklow Adventure Race series is back for another season of testing climbs, burning quads and scenic kayaking (if you can spare a second to look up!)
The race series offers competitors a choice of two categories:
- WAR (73Km total)
- WAR Sport (39Km total)
Each category is then further broken down in Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced.
This means that whether your a first time adventure racer or a hardcore AR Veteran, there’s a distance and category for you. WAR Glendalough will be taking place on April 16th and will be first of a series of 3 WAR races to be run this year.
The two other WAR races are:
- WAR: Glenmalure – 18th June.
- WAR: Powerscourt – 24th Sept.
NewToTri.com spoke to one competitor from last years Wicklow Adventure Race and asked what his thoughts were: “I loved the race. It was tough, there’s no denying that, but it was also a great day out racing and the scenery was fantastic. I’d some technical issues with my bike last year, so i’m going back again this year with a fully serviced bike!”
Last year competitors enjoyed perfect weather and the hope will be for a repeat this year. But then again a bit of rain would probably make an Adventure Race more enjoyable right?
