What is it?
Ironman 70.3 Austin will consist of a 1.2 mile swim, a 56-mile bike and a 13.1 mile run. Since its inception in 2006, the Ironman 70.3 series has become the fastest growing triathlon series in the world. Events around the world qualify athletes for the Ironman World Championship 70.3.
What to expect?
Ironman 70.3 Austin is taking place Sunday, October 23, 2011 ! Athletes can expect a freshwater swim in Decker Lake with an average water temp between 72-78 degrees F. As they exit the lake they will tackle a challenging 1 loop bike course through scenic and rolling Texas farmland. Finally, they will complete the 13.1 mile half-marathon with a two-loop run course, going through E. Long Park, along the shores of Decker Lake and through the Travis County Expo Center grounds as they finish inside Luedecke Arena.
Competitors in Ironman 70.3 Austin, will enjoy its scenic views of sprawling ranches, cedar-covered vistas, sunflower fields, prickly pear cacti and overall big sky country, showcasing all that true Texas has to offer!
