The 8th of October will see the start of the first Killarney Adventure Race! Competitors will be challenged to cycle run and Kayak their way around a challenging but scenic course. Check out the below Q & A with the race organisers on what competitors should expect on race day!

When is the Killarney Adventure Race taking place & how long has it been running:

The inaugral Killarney adventure race will take place on Saturday the 8th of October

Who is the Killarney Adventure Race aimed at:

It is aimed at all adventure sports enthuasits of all levels of fitness. You can complete the short or long course as an indivual or a 3/4 person relay team.

What should those taking part expect on race day.

Pure adventure, Pure Adrenline and Pure Kerry!. The adventure begins on the foothills of The McGillycuddy Reeks, Ireland’s Highest Mountain Range, with a hill run across Strickeen Mountain, competitors will then jump on the bikes and cycle up through the Gap of Dunloe and the break taking Molls Gap. If the cycle wasn’t enough a Kayak around the spectacular clear waters of Muckross Lake and a trek up Mangerton Mountain or around Torc Mountain will be enough to test anybody’s endurance and fitness. 

What’s unique about the Killarney Adventure Race?

Its a wild adventure race deep in the stunning setting of Killarney. Everyone who completes the race recieves customised cycling t-shirts, medals, after party BBQ and at the finish line the Famouns Muckross house hot tubs are available to sooth the sore muscles.Competitors will get wet and muddy but thats the thrill of adventure racing. Everyone will have a great adventure weekend in Killarney.


Would you describe the Killarney Adventure Race as suitable for beginner and amateur athletes?

It is suitable for all levels of fitness as there is a short and long course. You can also enter as a relay team.
